Squirrels - 4 to 6 year olds
We’ve are looking to open a new provision for four to six year olds called Squirrels, to help young people gain skills for life at a time when it matters most and where it's most needed.
At the current time we are looking for volunteers to join our team to set up and start a Squirrel Scout section at Kirkham, if you have an interest in this please get in contact to find out more.
Being a Squirrel
Squirrels can achieve anything they set their minds to – and they have lots of fun along the way.
The one hour sessions will be a brilliant opportunity for young people to take their first step into being part of Scouts, and they’ll help everyone get ready for the adventure of school too.
Sessions will be packed with outdoors activities, fun, games, badges, laughter, and so much more to help our youngest members learn the skills they need for life. Of course, none of it would be possible without the support of the amazing leaders who plan and deliver such an inspiring programme.
We’re really excited to share the Squirrels programme with you!
Each badge is packed with wow and wonder, perfect for anyone who’s ever asked ‘Why?’ (or ‘Why not?’). You’ll tell stories and play games. Get active and explore the outdoors. Become a brilliant builder and a super chef. There’s something for everyone – and that means that there’s something for you.
From your very first day at Squirrels to your last day at Explorers, being a Scout is all about trying new things. You can work towards as many badges as you like, at your own pace. And once you've earned them, here's where to sew them on.
Each award is packed with awe and awesome, perfect for anyone who’s ever asked ‘Why?’ (or ‘Why not?’). You’ll think about what makes you unique and learn to be the best friend you can be, enjoy your first campfire and meet some new people.
Become an expert in something you love, or try something shiny and new. There’s a badge to suit each and every Squirrel.
What Squirrels wear
Squirrels uniform consists of a red sweatshirt with your badges sewn on and a coloured scarf or 'necker’ to represent your local group. There are lots of other optional accessories you can wear such as hats, hoodies, navy blue trousers or shorts, if you’d like to.
Moving to Beavers
Eventually, it’ll be time to say goodbye to Squirrels and explore your next big adventure with Beavers.
